Gorges du Loup, Mesa Verde Sector

Introduction

Very nice cliff around the river of Loup discovered by Philippe Maurel and Pierre Henri Paillasson in 1997. Philippe Maurel opened two of the nicest routes: Castle rock and Arrowhead. One can climb from spring to fall. The cliff is on the sun in the morning but the bottom of the routes in the shade. The routes are mainly resistive, slightly overhanging or vertical.

Information

Location	Left side of the Gorges du Loup, above the village of Pont du Loup, Alpes Maritimes, France.
Road access	Around 45 minutes from Nice. Follow the road D2210 or D6 up to Pont du Loup. There are several parking in the village.
Access to the cliff	Cliff: 20 minutes walk. From the Village, go under the confiserie (candy shop), follow the trail which goes along the river. The cliff is just after the green bridge. GPS: 6º 59’ 45.3" N / 43º 43’ 45.6" E.
Best climbing season	The best season goes from May to October. The cliff is on the shade after noon in summer.
Routes	Routes: 31 routes from 6c to 8a+. Mostly vertical to slightly overhanging. The routes are 20m to 37m high.
Bolts	Well bolted overall.

• Graded 8: les Nicois font du ski 7c+/8a (35m), Arrow Head 8a (verry nice route)
