The Parinacota 6348 m (20,827 feet) is a volcano located on the border of Chile and Bolivia. It can be climbed from both side but we describe here the Bolivian side in the Sajama National Park. The base camp can be reached with a 4 wheels drive up to around 5000 m. The climb is pretty straight forward but can be strenuous because of the soft sand at the bottom and the numerous snow penitents in the second half of the route.
Huayna Potosi is a very famous 6000 m peak. It is located in the Cordillera Real, less than 30 km away from La Paz. Drive to Zongo Pass at 4700m. Start from there and climb up to the high camp at 5200 m. The top can be reached in 3 to 4 hours.
