Trail: Greolieres – Aiglun
Anna and I wanted to make a trail running around Aiglun to take some photos of its great cliffs. To make it interesting, we started from Gréolieres, crossed Gréolieres les Neiges and the Esteron river and went up to the Barre de l’Entonnoir on the other side of the Gorges to have a nice view [...]
Climbing: Dies Irae and Deverse
As always when the temperatures rise on the French Riviera, Deverse becomes the best climbing cliff. Unfortunately with the rain and moisture we had in the past weeks, many routes are wet but there still are enough to make a big climbing day. I still need to make some volume training before trying new project [...]
Climbing: Peillon Cave
Saturday we went back to Peillon’s cave for the first time since spring last year. After the heavy rain of this winter many routes are still wet but there’s still enough to do. I made a desperate attempt in Le Souffle du Vizir (8b+) which is a combination of A bout de Souffle (8b) and [...]
Climbing: Marches du Palais
We had enough snow yesterday (see previous post) so we skipped the mountains and went rock climbing at the Marches du Palais. Great day, we felt like in April but despite the sun, lots of holds are still wet. Routes dry: Une bonne raclée (7a+), Sur des rails (7b). Routes wet but climbable: Qui dort [...]
Alpinism: Grande Rocheuse – Vivagel
Jon Griffith, Carine Salvy and I went back in the Argentiere Basin, Mont Blanc Massif, for our second day of photo shoots for Berghaus. This time we climbed the Couturier + Vivagel route in the North Face of Grande Rocheuse. We spent a short and cold night on the floor of the Grand Montet cable [...]

Alpinism: Aiguille Carree – Frendo Ravanel
Jon Griffith, Carine Salvy and I climbed the Frendo Ravanel route at the Aiguille Carrée (3716 m) in the Mont Blanc Massif. That was our first day of photo shoots for Berghaus. We left Argentière quite late and when we reached the end of the last hard pitch, it was too late to top out [...]
Climbing in Deverse
Saturday we went back to Deverse sector again, probably the best cliff in summer around Nice. Nothing new but I did send Deverse Satanic (8a+) twice during the day. Here is a video of the route: The topo of Deverse sector is here.
Climbing topo of the Cave Sector in Peillon
Peillon is one of the best cliffs around Nice (Alpes Maritimes, France). I just published the rock climbing topo of the Peillon’s Cave. Philippe in A bout de souffle, 8b (© A. Gatta) Anna Gatta in Tout reste à faire, 8a+ (© P. Gatta)
